Dear Fellow Webmaster:

Here is the introduction from a new ebook I wrote for you:
"Jonathan Mizel calls attorneys one of the required partners in an online business. Rich Schefren in his Internet Business Manifesto refers to legal and compliance issues as one of the 12 critical areas of your business.

Legal issues can make or break your business. Not getting basic terms right in contracts can be extremely costly.

I had one case where a business thought it had prepared a contract requiring the application of Missouri law and for Missouri courts to decide any disputes. But they failed to follow the guidelines I am about to lay out for you. Simple rules actually.

This mistake cost the company approximately $500,000. They ended up litigating issues in California, hiring several California attorneys, and then losing in California to my clients. In the legal area at issue California law was the opposite of Missouri law, to this company's great misfortune.

I have another case now where a company from Washington made the same mistake. It thought it could shut down my client's Internet business based on a contract it made. Thus far, a California court has ruled that California and not Washington is the proper place for litigation. A court in Washington then dismissed claims in Washington against my client. A request for attorney's fees is now pending. Ultimately, this could be another six-figure mistake.

Do I have your attention? I hope so, because these contracts were prepared by attorneys.

So why is it that webmasters, with their life savings at risk, often pay so little attention to legal terms? They spend hours preparing a product, a website, and a marketing plan. Then, they try to spend as little time and money as possible evaluating their business from a legal perspective, and preparing legal terms for their website.

It makes no sense or cents.

They end up spending 2-minutes copying terms from some other website, or finding some generic form. Then they pray that what they copied is adequate, or that the suits who prepared the form they copied knew what they were doing.

I'll tell you right now, they didn't.

You are about to learn more about basic terms for websites than most attorneys know. This is not law school, so don't worry. This will not be difficult."
I recently bought a product and saw that the website's terms of use had been copied from a well-known site offering generic terms for free.

The problem is, one of the critical terms is terrible. Perhaps the opposite of what you would want to have for your website.

In one case I had this type of mistake literally cost the opposing party $500,000.

So much for 'free' - so I created this offer for you.

I know some webmasters, maybe they should be called webamateurs, would rather spend $147 on the 'next thing' - which they never use anyway, instead 2 cents protecting their butt.

So I've priced this at a ridiculously low amount.

I really want to get you to improve your websites in an area you don't give much attention. That is until, bam, you get a knock on the door from a process server. Or, someone is stealing your business and you discover you haven't set things up right to stop it.

    Litigation is war. Literally.

Instead of deciding disputes with fists or guns, civilized society developed the court system and lawyers to decide 'civil' disputes.

If you're not properly prepared your business could be dead. 'Your business' - a polite way of saying what it is that puts food on your table, a roof over your head, gifts for your kids and loved ones.

Here is what you will learn in this easy to read, easy to use legal guidebook:

How to Win Lawsuits BEFORE They are Filed - I'll show you how to get legal disputes you file, or which are filed against you, in the courthouse that is convenient to you. Do this wrong, or miss a step, and you'll likely end up in a lawsuit a thousand miles away.

The fact is, if you file claims close to your house and the other guy is a thousand miles away, he'll probably default and you will automatically win. If you let lawsuits be filed a thousand miles away, it may be too costly for you to defend yourself or to protect your rights.

How to Decide Whether to Use Arbitration - Lawsuits or arbitration? What is the difference? Is there a difference? Which is cheaper? More importantly, You'll learn how to decide which option is going to give you the advantage.

How to Keep Frauds From Claiming You Promised the Moon - Unfortunately, liars and cheats abound. These people will say and do anything to get ten bucks. Imagine what they will say in a legal dispute with you! Stop them cold. Eliminate false claims about what 'you said or didn't say' and stick to what you can verify in writing.

Protect Your Pocketbook - To Err is Human. Face it. You'll make mistakes. One day you may get a claim as a result. It happens. Get the terms that can limit your financial exposure.

Stop Attorneys From Running Wild - You'll read one little sentence that could cause your mortal enemy's attorney to run wild, running up more fees and costs, and a waste of your time, than you could ever imagine. Is it in the terms you copied for your website? You'll find out.

Privacy is Huge - You may be shocked at what type of privacy policy the law requires. In fact, you may not believe what I have to say about some trusted privacy companies. This may give you a different perspective when you see that someone has a privacy policy - you may actually read it.

Be Smarter Than the Gurus - One guru already knows about this faux pas with his Forum and it already derailed one possible project. Make sure you don't make the same mistake with your website. When you read about this consent term some light bulbs may start flashing about how to use this newfound free content.

You will not get this information anywhere on the Internet.

I've charged upwards of $450 per hour for my time.

Maybe I'm nuts and the summer heat is getting to me, because you're getting this information for just:

        - Holly Cotter

" I just happened to see this [guide] and first off you should know that I was not asked to throw in my two cents. However having said that here it is.

I've had this [guide] for quite a while now (I might be one of the first ones to get it) and use it whenever I write an ebook. I probably should use it more on my sites/blogs etc. Brian releasing it again is my wake up call.

This is something all of us should have. It's peace of mind in a PDF and RTF.

Just get it."

        - George Wright

There's even more! As a special bonus you can subscribe to a members-only email list where I will be providing extra helpful tips not found in the book. Tips that go beyond strictly what is in the terms and conditions of a website. Keeping abreast of fast moving legal issues is critial aspect of your online business.
